Organometallic Lewis Bases, XXXIV: Nucleophilic Cleavage of Metal-Metal Bonds by Phosphines: Structures of Two Isomeric Reaction Products with Fe—As—Mn—P BackboneThe two isomeric complexes (CO)4Fe—As(CH3)2—Mn(CO)4—P(CH3)3 which are formed by opening of the Fe—Mn bond in FeMn(CO)8[μ-As(CH3)2] by trimethylphosphine(2) were characterized by X-ray crystallography. They are distinguished by the cis resp. trans arrangements of the P and As atoms at manganese. Stereochemistry and bonding of these new Fe—As—Mn—P compounds are discussed. From the sequence of formation of the complexes conclusions can be drawn about the mechanism of the Fe—Mn cleavage.

Die beiden isomeren Komplexe (CO)4Fe—As(CH3)2—Mn(CO)4—P(CH3)3 die durch Öffnung der Fe—Mn-Bindung in FeMn(CO)8[μ-As(CH3)2] mit Trimethylphosphin entstehen(2), wurden röntgenographisch charakterisiert. Sie unterscheiden sich durch die cis- bzw. trans-Stellung der P- und As-Atome am Mangan. Stereochemie und Bindung dieser neuen Fe—As—Mn—P-Verbindungen werden diskutiert. Aus der Sequenz der Bildung der Komplexe lassen sich Schlüsse über den Mechanismus der Fe—Mn-Spaltung ziehen.
