Transanular Interactions in [m.n]Phanes, XXV. Structurally Isomeric [2]Naphthaleno[2]paracyclophanesThe structurally isomeric [2]naphthaleno[2]paracyclophanes 1, 2 and 3, having 1,4-, 1,5- and 2,6-bridged naphthalene moieties, respectively, were synthesized via the corresponding dithia[3.3]phanes 8, 9 and 10. The photolytic desulfurization of 10 and the sulfur dioxide extrusion via vapour phase pyrolysis of the corresponding disulfone 11 to the highly strained 3 clearly demonstrate the limits of these preparative ring contraction methods.

Die strukturisomeren [2]Naphthalino[2]paracyclophane 1, 2 und 3 mit 1,4-, 1,5- bzw. 2,6-Verbrückung der Naphthalin-Einheit wurden über die entsprechenden Dithia[3.3]phane 8, 9 und 10 synthetisiert. Die photolytische Desulfurierung von 10 und die Schwefeldioxid-Extrusion durch Gasphasen-Pyrolyse des entsprechenden Disulfons 11 zum hochgespannten 3 lassen die präparativen Grenzen dieser Methoden zur Ringkontraktion erkennen.
