Sodium borohydride grows in technical and scientific importance. A procedure for its preparation was developed, starting from metallic sodium, hydrogen, dehydrated borax and quartz sand. The properties of the sodium borohydride ae summarized. Further, the use of sodium borohydride as a selectively acting agent, as well as a starting material for the preparation of borohydrides of other metals and a great number of boronic compounds, such as boron hydrides, amino boranes, trialkyl boranes, alkyl diboranes, esters and thioesters of alkyl boronic and boronic acids and hydrazine boranes are reported.

Natriumboranat (Natriumborhydrid) gewinnt in zunehmendem Maße an technischer und wissenschaftlicher Bedeutung. Zu seiner Herstellung wurde ein von metallischem Natrium, Wasserstoff, entwässertem Borax und Quarzsand ausgehendes Verfahren entwickelt. Die Eigenschaften des Natriumboranats werden zusammenfassend beschrieben. Ferner wird über die Verwendung des Natriumboranates als selektiv wirkendes Reduktionsmittel sowie als Ausgangsprodukt für die Herstellung von Boranaten anderer Metalle und einer Vielzahl von Borverbindungen wie Borwasserstoffen, Borazanen, Boralkylen, Alkyldiboranen, Estern der Alkylborsäuren bzw. Alkylthioborsäuren und Aminoborazanen berichtet.
