Die Michael-Addition von 1-Oxo-2-hydroxymethylen-1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8-octahydro-anthracen (1b) an Vinyl-[2-methoxycarbonyl-äthyl]-keton (2a) führt zu 3 a, das mit Natriummethylat in absol. Methanol 2-Oxo-2.3.4.4a.5.6.8.9.10.11-decahydro-benz[a]anthracen-essigsäure-(1) (4a) ergibt. Mit wasserfreier Flußsäure entsteht daraus 5, das bei der Zinkstaub-Destillation und anschließender Pd/Kohle-Dehydrierung Benzo[a]pyren (6) liefert. - Analog erhält man aus 1 b und 2 b die Verbindungen 3 b und 4 b. Der aus 4 b mit LiAlH4 gebildete sek. Alkohol wird mit Pd Kohle - unter gleichzeitiger Dehydratisierung - zu Benz[α]anthracen (7) dehydriert.
