Durch Bengalrosa photosensibilisierte O2-übertragung auf die stereoisomeren Alloocimene 1a und 1b liefert in gleichen Ausbeuten monomeres Alloocimen-hydroperoxid (6), das sich in Alloocimen-alkohol (7) und das bekannte 3.7-Dimethyl-octanon-(2) (9) überführen läßt. - Eine konkurrierende Bildung von Cycloperoxiden wird nicht beobachtet, es entsteht jedoch neben 6 das instabile Hydroperoxid 11, dessen Hocksche Spaltung bei Raumtemperatur spontan erfolgt. - Unter den Bedingungen der photosensibilisierten Sauerstoffübertragung mit Bengalrosa erfolgt eine cis-trans-Umlagerung 1a ↔ 1b, die auch in Abwesenheit von O2 durch Bengalrosa sensibilisiert wird.
