Syntheses of 2,3-Diamino-2,3-dideoxypentosesNucleophilic ring opening of the aziridino sugar 5 with sodium azide gave compound 6 with arabino-configuration. Similar treatment of 13 gave the xylo-derivative 14. Both products are contrary to the predictions of the Fürst-Plattner rule. 2,3-Diacetamido-2,3-dideoxy-D-xylopyranose (17) was prepared from 14. The mixture 20 - 23, arising from the reaction of the xylal 19 with sodium azide, was subjected to azidonitration. After substituting the nitro groups with acetate, the 2,3-diazido compounds 26 and 30 with xylo- and lyxo-configurations were obtained.

Nucleophile Ringöffnung des Aziridin-Zuckers 5 mit Natriumazid liefert die arabino-Komponente 6. Der Aziridin-Zucker 13 reagiert mit Azid zur xylo-Verbindung 14. Beide Reaktionen verlaufen entgegen der Fürst-Plattner-Regel. Aus 14 wurde 2,3-Diacetamido-2,3-didesoxy-D-xylopyranose (17) dargestellt. Das aus dem Xylal 19 mit Azid erhältliche Gemisch 20 - 23 wird der Azidonitrierung unterworfen. Nach Austausch der Nitratreste gegen Acetat können die 2,3-Diazido-verbindungen 26 und 30 der xylo- und lyxo-Konfiguration isoliert werden.
