Notes:
Using a relative rate method, rate constants for the gas-phase reactions of the OH radical with 1- and 2-propyl nitrate, 1- and 2-butyl nitrate and 1-nitrobutane have been determined in the presence of one atmosphere of air at 298 ± 2 K. Using rate constants for the reactions of the OH radical with propane and cyclohexane of 1.15 × 10-12 and 7.49 × 10-12 cm3 molecule-1 s-1, respectively, following rate constants (in units of 10-12 cm3 molecule-1 s-1) were obtained: 1-propyl nitrate, 0.62; 2-propyl nitrate, 0.41; 1-butyl nitrate, 1.78; 2-butyl nitrate, 0.93; and 1-nitrobutane, 1.35. These rate constants are compared and discussed with the literature data.
