The present paper deals with the separation and distribution of n-paraffins in Marine Belayim wax distillate fractions (300-500°C) using molecular sieves adsorption and gas chromatography.The method used consists in dewaxing the wax distillate fractions and selectively adsorbing the n-paraffins present in the waxes by refluxing their benzene solutions with Type 5 A pelleted molecular sieves. The sieve crystal structure is then destroyed with HF and the liberated n-paraffins are quantitatively determined.
