Tetrathiafulvalenes. XV. Mössbauer Spectroscopic Investigation of Monomeric and Polymeric Iron Dithiolene ComplexesThe Mössbauer spectra of iron bis dithiolene chelates with 1,2-dithiole-2-one-4,5-dithiolate and 1,2-dithiole-2-thione-4,5-dithiolate ligands are compared with those of the polymeric iron complexes with ethene tetrathiolate and tetrathiafulvalene tetrathiolate ligands. The spectroscopic results are discussed in relation to the structure of these compounds. In all investigated complexes the isomer shift shows trivalent iron ions as the main component in the samples. Whereas the monomeric complexes show a double doublet spectrum, which is unusual for iron bis dithiolene chelates, the polymeric compounds produce spectra, whose quadrupole splitting is typical for distorted octahedral coordination geometry.
