The existence of the unsymmetrical form of sulfurous acid has been proved by the reaction of H2SO3 with S2Cl2.Corresponding experiments with "acid" sulfites confirmed earlier analytical and spectroscopical results. The "acid" Na- and K-sulfites have the formula MeIS2O5.
Notes:
Durch Umsetzung freier schwefliger Säure sofort nach dem Freisetzen aus ihren Salzen mit S2Cl2 wird gezeigt, daß in der Säure eine HS-Gruppe vorliegt, daß also die unsymmetrische Form auftritt.Entsprechende Untersuchungen an „sauren“ Sulfiten bestätigten frühere analytische und spektroskopische Befunde, nach denen es sich bei den festen „Na- und K-Hydrogensulfiten“ um Pyrosulfite Me2IS2O5 handelt.
