Light absorption measurements, ultrafiltration experiments, determination of ionic weigths by means of free diffusion and salt cryoscopy as well as analytical investigations and conductometric titrations have shown that the hydrolysis of alkali aurates containing the monoaurate ion, [Au(OH)4]-, yields gel-like, quickly aging auric acid. As intermediate products colloidal aggregates of auric acid of diameters from 100 to 200 mm̈ but no detectable polyaurate ions occur.

Im Rahmen der Arbeiten über die Hydrolyse von Salzen schwacher anorganischer Säuren und über die Bildung von Polysäuren wurden kürzlich Untersuchungen an Natriumauratlösungen mitgeteilt, die nun vervollständigt werden. Lichtabsorptionsmessungen, Ultrafiltrationsversuche, Ionengewichtsbestimmungen mit den Methoden der freien Diffusion und der Salzkryoskopie, sowie analytische Untersuchungen und konduktometrische Titrationen führen zu dem Ergebnis, daß die Hydrolyse von Alkaliauraten vom einbasischen Monoauratanion [Au(OH)4]- - oftmals über längere Zeit haltbare, kolloidale Goldsäureaggregate von 100 bis 200 mm̈ Durchmesser - zur gelartigen, schnell alternden Goldsäure führt. Stabile Polyaurationen sind nicht nachweisbar.
