From the IR spectrum of „sodium nitrosyl“ prepared by reaction of NO with Na in liquid ammonia, the existence of a dimeric ion N2O22- is derived being not identical with the hyponitrite ion. Of the two possible structures left, the cis form and the „star“ form (with one nitrogen as a central atom), the former is preferred.

Aus dem IR-Spektrum des „Nitrosylnatriums“, des Reaktionsproduktes von Stickstoffmonoxid mit Natrium in flüssigem Ammoniak, wird gefolgert, daß ein dimeres Ion N2O22- vorliegt, das mit dem Hyponitrition nicht identisch ist. Von den beiden anderen möglichen Strukturen, der cis-Form und der Stern-Form mit einem zentralen N-Atom-wir der cis-Form der Vorzug gegeben.
