Ni(II) ions react with 2-(β-amino-ethyl)-pyridine (aäp) forming 1,2 complexes. Within the most of these complexes, nickel has the coordination number 6, water and anions, respectively, being a part of the ligands.Ni(aäp)2J2 has two isomers. The yellow one is a spin -coupled complex of Lifschitz type like [Ni(aäp)2] (ClO4)2. The dark green isomer is supposed to have a distorted tetrahedral structure.

Nickel(II)-Ionen bilden mit 2-(β-Amino-äthyl)-pyridin (aäp) durchweg 1,2-Komplexe. In den meisten Fällen erreicht das Zentralatom darin durch Einbeziehung des Kristallwassers bzw. der Anionen die Koordinationszahl 6. Das Jodid Ni(aäp)2J2 existiert in Form zweier Isomerer. Bei dem gelben handelt es sich wie bei dem Komplex [Ni(aäp)2] (ClO4)2 um einen Vertreter des spingepaarten Lifschitz-Typs. Für das dunkelgrüne Isomere wird dagegen eine verzerrt-tetraedrische Struktur wahrscheinlich gemacht.
