Sodium amide reacts with 15N-labelled bis(trimethylsilyl)amine in a neutralisation reaction forming ammonia and 15N-labelled sodium bis(trimetylsilyl)amide; the original Si-N bond is not attacked. In the analogous reaction of urea with [(CH3)3Si]15NH, a transamination with Si-N cleavage and Si-N re-formation is observed yielding 15N-labelled ammonia and bis(trimethylsilyl)urea.

Natriumamid reagiert mit 15N-markiertem Bis-[trimethylsilyl]-amin im Sinne einer Neutralisationsreaktion (3) zu Ammoniak und 15N-markiertem Natrium-bis-[trimethylsilyl]-amid, wobei die ursprüngliche Si-N-Bindung erhalten bleibt. Die analoge Reaktion von Harnstoff mit [(CH3)3Si]2 15NH verläuft dagegen als Aminierung unter Si-N-Spaltung und Si-N-Neubildung nach (18) zu 15N-markiertem NH3 und Bis-[trimethylsilyl]-harnstoff.
