    Description / Table of Contents: The hitherto unknown compounds KScO2 (hexagonal; a = 3.216, c = 18.33 Å; Z = 3 formula units per unit cell) and α-RbScO2 (hexagonal; a = 3,250, c = 19.22 Å; Z = 3 formula units), both showing the α-NaFeO2 type of structure, have been obtained. According to powder diagrams, the high temperature form, β-RbScO2, has a new, hitherto unknown type of structure (hexagonal; a = 3.247, c = 12.78 Å; Z = 2 formula units p. u. c.), which may be considered as a stacking variant of the α-NaFeO2 type as well as a „filled“ layer structure of the CdJ2 type.
