Description / Table of Contents:
Nitromethane precipitates stoichiometric, crystalline LiHSO4 from a saturated solution of Li2SO4 in conc. H2SO4. In the presence of excess H2SO4, the hydrogen sulphate is completely converted in vacuo at 200°C into Li2S2O7. There is evidence for an equilibrium \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ 2\,\, {\rm LiHSO_4} \rightleftharpoons {\rm Li_2SO_4} \,\cdot \,{\rm H_2SO_4} $\end{document}, in ether or on heating.
Notes:
