The structure of [P2N7H10(CH3)2]J has been determined by X-ray methods using least-squares refinement. The compound crystallises monoclinic: P21/n—C52h; a = 6.03, b = 23.87, c = 8,27 Å, β = 97° 46′; Z = 4. There is anionic iodide. In the cation, the two phosphorus atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated, and linked together by a bridging nitrogen atom (P—N—P 129.2°). Further ligands are three NH2 groups at one P atom, and one NH2 plus two NHCH3 groups at the other P. The P—N bonds, especially those to the bridging nitrogen, have double bond character.

Die Struktur des von BECKE-GOEHRING und SCHARF hergestellten [P2N7H10(CH3)2]J (I) wurde röntgenographisch bestimmt und nach der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate verfeinert. Die Verbindung kristallisiert monoklin, in der Raumgruppe C52h—P21/n mit a = 6,03, b = 23,87, c = 8,27 Å, β = 97° 46′; Z = 4. Das Jod ist ionisch gebunden. Im Kation sind die beiden Phosphoratome tetraedrisch koordiniert und über ein Stickstoffatom miteinander verbunden. Als Liganden fungieren neben dem gemeinsamen Brückenstickstoffatom bei dem einen Phosphoratom 3 NH2-Gruppen, bei dem anderen 1 NH2-und 2 NH—CH3-Gruppen. Die Phosphorstickstoffbindungen haben Doppelbindungscharakter, vor allem die Bindung der Phosphoratome zum Brückenstickstoff. Der Bindungswinkel an diesem beträgt 129,2°.
