NH4Cl not only reacts with phosphorus pentachloride, but also with compounds such as [(C6H5)3PCl][PCl6], py · PCl5 and [PCl4][SbCl6] to form phosphorus nitride chlorides. The reactivity towards NH4Cl increases with rising Lewis acidity according to [PCl6]- 〈 py · PCl5 〈 PCl5 〈 [PCl4]+. The mechanism of the formation of phosphorus nitride chlorides is discussed.

Ammoniumchlorid reagiert nicht nur mit Phosphorpentachlorid, sondern auch mit Verbindungen wie [(C6H5)3PCl]PCl6, C5H5N · PCl5 und [PCl4][SbCl6] unter Bildung von Phosphornitridchloriden. Diese Verbindungen enthalten zwar alle Phosphorpentachlorid, unterscheiden sich aber durch den Zustand, in dem Phosphorpentachlorid primär als Reaktionspartner zur Verfügung steht, voneinander. In der Reihe [PCl6]-, C5H5N · PCl5, PCl5, [PCl4]+ steigt der (LEWIS-)Säure-Charakter an; in der gleichen Folge wird die Reaktion mit Ammoniumchlorid erleichtert. Die verschiedenen Aussagen über den Bildungs-mechanismus der Phosphornitridchloride werden diskutiert.
