The Crystal Structures of Trithiocyanatomerecurate RhHg(SCN)3 and CsHg(SC)3The structure of RbHg(SCN)3 (monoclinic, a = 1140.67(50) pm; b= 416.70(8)pm; c = 1110.26(36) pm; β = 115.20(2)°; Z = 4; space group P21/m) contains, beside isolated Rb⊕ and SCN⊖ ions, planar Hg(SCN)2 units in which Hg is digonally coordinated by two sulfur atoms ( ∡ S—Hg—S = 154°). The compound is thus to be formulated as a double salt Hg(SCN)2· RbSCN. In contrast CsHg(SCN)3 is a true trithiocyanatomercurate consisting of dimeric [Hg(SCN)3]2, units in which Hg is trigonally planar coordinated by sulfur; this also crystallizes monoclinic (a = 954.31(23) pm; b = 1089.86(20) pm; c = 1996.49(36)pm; β = 108.39(4)°: Z = 8; space group P21/c).

Die Struktur des monoklinen RbHg(SCN)3 (a = 1140,67(50) pm; b = 416,70(8) pm; c = 1110,26(36) pm; β = 115,20(2)°; Z = 4; Raumgruppe P21/m) enthält neben den isolierten Ionen Rb⊕ und SCN⊖ ebene Hg(SCN)2-Baugruppen, in denen Hg digonal von zwei Schwefel ( ∡ S—Hg—S = 154°) koordiniert ist. Die Verbindung ist deshalb als Doppelsalz Hg(SCN)2 · RbSCN zu formulieren.Dagegen ist CsHg(SCN)3 ein echtes Trithiocyanatomercurat, denn dimere [Hg(SCN)3]2-Baugruppen, in denen Hg trigonal planar von Schwefel koordiniert ist, charakterisieren den Aufbau der monoklinen Verbindung (a = 954,31(22) pm; b = 1089,86(20) pm; c = 1996,49(36) pm; β = 108,39(4)°; Z = 8; Raumgruppe P21/c).
