Description / Table of Contents: Glass formation and Properties of Chalcogenide Systems. XXI. On Na3GeS3Br and Na3GeSe3Br and the Amorphous Compounds Ge2S3 and Ge2Se3The compounds Na3GeS3Br and Na3GeSe3Br are formed when Br2 affects the Ge—Ge bond of the anions in the substances Na6Ge2S6 and Na6Ge2Se6 in methanolic solution. Solid state infrared and Raman spectra show the presence of anions of the symmetry C3v. The reaction of Na6Ge2S6 and Na6Ge2Se6 with Pb(CH3COO)2 in CH3OH yields PbS or PbSe and amorphous substances referring to condensation equilibriums in the solution of the ions Ge2S66- and Ge2Se66-. The latter are decomposed by hydrochlorid acid forming precipitates of the amorphous compounds Ge2S3 and Ge2Se3.
