Thermal Investigations of Iron(III) Mixed Ligand Complexes with Oxalate and Aromatic α-DiiminesThe thermal behaviour of pseudooctahedral iron(III) mixed ligand complexes with oxalate and aromatic α-diimines 2,2′-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline have been characterized by means of thermomagnetic, thermogravimetric, and DTA measurements. The redox decomposition of the investigated iron(III) compounds results in iron(II) species and carbon dioxide. The structure of selected stable products of thermolysis is discussed.

Stöchiometrisch unterschiedliche, pseudooktaedrische Eisen(III)-Gemischtligandkomplexe mit Oxalat und den aromatischen α-Diiminen 2,2′-Bipyridyl und 1,10-Phenanthrolin werden mittels thermomagnetischer, thermogravimetrischer und differentialthermoanalytischer Messungen charakterisiert. Die dominierende Thermoreaktion der untersuchten Eisen(III)-Verbindungen ist die Redoxzersetzung zu Eisen(II)-Spezies und Kohlendioxid. Die Struktur einiger ausgewählter stabiler Thermolysezwischenprodukte wird diskutiert.
