Notes:
Vinylcyclopropane was polymerized with a catalyst of triisobutyla luminum and titanium trichloride and yielded crystalline polyvinylcyclopropane. The reaction of crystalline polyvinylcyclopropane with hydrogen bromide yielded an amorphous, bromine-containing polymer. A bromine-modified polyvinylcyclopropane, which was also amorphous and several other modified polymers were prepared. The pyrolysis of both 1- and 2-cyclopentylethyl acetates yielded vinylcyclopentane, which was polymerized with catalysts of triisobutyl-aluminum and titanium tri- and tetrachloride. Vinylcyclohexane was polymerized, and the properties of crystalline polyvinylcyclohexane were compared with those of the crystalline five and three-membered pendant ring polymers.
