Summary 1. An approximate method of calculating the dependence Ntot=f(R, ZD, ZW) has been developed for the cases $$x_{\kappa ,F} 〉 z_W ;x_{\kappa + 1,F} 〉 z_D ;\frac{{\alpha _\kappa }}{{\alpha _{\kappa + 1} }}〈 3$$ . 2. An equation has been found for approximate calculation of the optimum position of the feed plate. 3. It has been shown that Mikhailovskii's postulate regarding the mutual compensation of the effect of the number of plates and the operating reflux ratio on the end-products composition is not true for the general case.
