Notes: Conclusions 1. The 0Kh23Yu5A and 0Kh27Yu5A alloys are recommended for heating elements of electric furnaces with carburizing atmospheres. In furnaces used for critical operations these alloys must be polished so as to remove a layer of 0.4–0.5 mm. The Kh20N80 alloy is recommended for heating elements of complex shape. 2. The heating elements, hooks, and leads of Fe−Cr−Al alloys and of Cr−Ni alloys operated in atmospheres containing carbon must be subjected to preliminary oxidation in air for 50 and 70 h at 1200 and 1100°C respectively. 3. The amount of soot in the furnace must be decreased to the minimum to increase the working life of heating elements in atmospheres containing carbon.
