Summary 1. We have developed a method for the separation of I2 from CH3I based on the adsorption of iodine vapor on silver. 2. In the 30–45° temperature range the isotopic exchange between CH3l*and I2 proceeds on the walls of the reaction vessel. 3. Addition of oxygen has no effect on the rate of isotopic exchange.
