Summary 1. The rate constants of the reaction of n-C3H7I + KI* at pressures up to 3000 kg/cm2 in methyl ethyl ketone at 20° and cyclohexanone at 0° were measured. 2. We measured the electrical conductivities of solutions of KI in these solvents at various pressures and the volume effects of solution of KI at atmospheric pressure. 3. The results of the investigation are compatible with the hypothesis that the iodine ion is partly desolvated during the formation of the activated complex in the ion-molecular isotopic exchange studied.
