    Notes: Summary Although some cell counts obtained in situ from monolayers follow a hyperbolic rather than a Poisson or a normal distribution, averaging cell counts from several random fields and then averaging these means produces an approximately normal distribution, sometimes with a slight skewness. Details of the counting and statistical methods for such cell population data are presented.
