Notes:
Summary Culture of two nitrogen-fixing bacteria (REN2 and JN1) isolated from rice and jute phyllospheres respectively, were sprayed on wheat plants as substitute for nitrogenous fertilisers. There was a marked improvement in yield and growth of the plants. An average increase in yield by 70% was obtained which was very near to that obtained by fertilizer treatment.
