Abstract In the course of adaptation to repeated stress, the expression of the proto-oncogene c-myc found to increase much more rapidly than that of the Ca-ATPase gene. It is suggested that an increase in the level of c-myc expression may activate the structural Ca-ATPase gene and possibly also the heat-shock proteins.
