Abstract On the basis of a theoretical investigation of a biophysical model of the lung structure and subsequent experimental verification of the results, a method of calculating the regional relative blood volume of the lungs from the data of electroplethysmographic investigation of the lungs and the results of measurement of the specific electrical conductivity of the blood is suggested. Equations for calculating the regional relative blood volume of the lungs are derived and their working range is established so far as the use of the proposed method of calculation in clinical and physiological investigations of the lungs is concerned.
