Notes: Abstract Locational decisions in mental health agencies have consequences for the delivery of services. Case studies of five mental health areas yielded useful data on locational decision-making processes and outcomes. They also revealed practical guidelines for locational solutions. These deal with the importance of location; the cyclical nature of locational processes; the evaluation of impacts; technical assistance; measuring relevant variables; fortuitous opportunities; alternative solutions; conflicts and vetoes; rationalization; and implementation.
