Notes:
Abstract The general concept of optimal intimacy/distance, when taken seriously at the descriptive level, can have positive significance for understanding and improving church life both at the practical and theoretical levels. Four areas of church life are discussed in relation to this concept. The concept does not explain, but it does illumine problems in a fresh way.
