Abstract Six children who had juvenile nephronophthisis were of short stature and passed large volumes of dilute urine. Excessive salt intake and excessive salt loss have been observed. Intravenous urography showed slight reduction in kidney size with a protracted nephrogram. Early in the nephrographic phase cystic radiolucencies were shown in one patient. Histological examination has confirmed the diagnosis in all patients. The question of renal biopsy in patients with this disorder is discussed.
