Notes: Summary Maleic, Styrenic and Methacrylic macromonomers of poly(ethylene oxide) and related polymerizable surfactants (SURFMERS) have been used as stabilizers in the dispersion polymerization of styrene in ethanol-water mixtures. The current study looks at the polymerization yield, the particle size and the incorporation yield of the stabilizers onto the surface of the particles. The macromonomers are better suited than the corresponding SURFMERS for steric stabilization of the particles.
