Notes:
Summary In the literature allergens were reported to produce vestibulocochlear symptoms (review Beikert, 1960). Connections between the suspected allergens, the patients complaints and measurable symptoms are difficult to demonstrate. The modern diagnosis of allergies comprises provocation of clinical symptoms and demonstration of functional alterations — e.g. rhinomanometry, pulmonary function test. We observed occasionally in orally provocated patients vestibulocochlear symptoms. This prompted us to extend our allergy diagnosis also to vestibulocochlear disturbances.
