Notes: Summary The fibrogenic response of amosite variety of asbestos was studied in lungs of guinea pigs over a period of 300 days. Histologically there was marked reticulin fibrosis but the maturation into collagen was slow. Biochemical estimation revealed significant increase of hydroxyproline and glycosamine contents. Total lung protein was also found to be higher in the amosite treated animals reaching maximum at 90 days. The significance of these findings have been discussed.
