Zusammenfassung Überblick über seit 1943 an der Chirurgischen Universitäts-Klinik in Heidelberg erfolgte Elektrokoagulationen des Ganglion Gasseri in mehr als2500 Fällen von Trigeminusneuralgien typischer oder atypischer Art unter besonderer Herausstellung der Erfolgs-, Rezidiv- und Versagerquote, der einfachen bewährtenTechnik aus „freier Hand” und der praktisch fehlenden Kontraindikationen. Vergleich mit Rezidiven und Komplikationsmöglichkeiten anderer operativer Verfahren.

Summary A survey of electrocoagulations of the Gasserian ganglion which has been performed since 1943 at the Surgical University Clinic in Heidelberg on more than 2,500 cases with trigeminal neuralgia of the typical or atypical variety with particular emphasis of the success, recurrence and failure rate, the simple proved “free-hand” technique and the practically absent contraindications. The method is compared to the recurrences and complication possibilities of other surgical methods.
