Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Von 163 Patienten, die zwischen 1976 and 1980 wegen einer Tibiakopfraktur behandelt wurden, konnten 43 Patienten nachuntersucht wurden (18 Operationen und15 konservative Behandlungen).
Notes: Summary Between 1976 and 1980, patients with fractures of the tibial plateau were treated. Of these patients, 43 were reexamined (18 operative, 15 conservative treatment). Complications were related to risk factors like fragment dislocation, cancellous bone transplants and kind of fracture. In patients treated operatively with fragment dislocation, the incidence ofarthrosis was similar (4/15) to that when conservative treatment was used (5/14). After conservative treatment, there was a higher rate ofosteoporosis (7/14, operative 4/15). Concerning depression of the articular surface, the results were much better after operation. Careful and intense cancellous bone transplantation from the pelvicrista is considered very important. The rate of infections was 9% (6/63 operations); 4 of these occurred after open factures.
