Summary Twenty-four hours after intramuscular injection of the Yoshida ascites sarcoma in the lower leg of the rat, there is a massive dispersion of tumor cells from the primary tumor. Hematogenous metastases are significantly more frequent in animals in whom the primary tumor is radically excised than in the nonoperated animals. After intramuscular injection of the Yoshida sarcoma in a lower leg, 93% of the inoculated animals recover if the amputation at the hip is done 2–8 hours after the inoculation. The rate of recovery falls to 48% (or 0%), if the operative procedure occurs 4 days (or 10 days) after the inoculation.

Zusammenfassung Bereits 24 Std nach intramuskulärer Impfung des Yoshida-Ascites-Sarkoms in den Unterschenkel von Ratten kommt es zu einer massiven Aussaat von Krebszellen aus dem Primärtumor. Hämatogen entstandene Metastasen sind bei Tieren, denen der Primärtumor operativ radikal entfernt wurde, signifikant häufiger als bei nicht operierten Tieren. Nach intramuskulärer Impfung des Yoshida-Sarkoms in einen Unterschenkel lassen sich 93% der geimpften Tiere heilen, wenn die Amputation im Hüftgelenk 2–8 Std nach der Impfung vorgenommen wird. Die Heilungsrate sinkt auf 48 bzw. 0% ab, wenn der operative Eingriff 4 bzw. 10 Tage nach der Transplantation erfolgt.
