Notes: Summary The relation between the methylation of RNA by S-adenosylmethionine and dimethylnitrosamine was investigated. The formation of 7-methylguanine by 3H−CH3-l-methionine is not reduced competitively by high dosages of dimethylnitrosamine. High dosages of S-adenosylmethionine do not reduce, but increase the methylation of RNA by 14C-dimethylnitrosamine in dependence of the dosages of dimethylnitrosamine and the time of action. In addition the application of S-adenosylmethionine leads to an increased incorporation of the activity from 14C-dimethylnitrosamine into the purine bases.
