Abstract Plasma membrane vesicles were isolated from papaya (Carica papaya) leaf cells by a two-phase partition system. Redox activities of these vesicles were determined by ferricyanide reduction and NADH oxidation. Ferricyanide reductase activity was accompanied by continuous acidification of the medium and was stimulated by fusicoccin. NADH oxidase activity was inhibited by catalase.
