Description / Table of Contents: Summary In a patient with a chronic abscess of the pituitary fossa the correct diagnosis could not be distinguished from that of a pituitary adenoma, The illnes began 2 years earlier with a pituitary insufficiency and bitemporal hemianopia as the prominent symptoms. Signs of infection were absent. The diagnosis was verified operatively and at autopsy. A granuloma arising from the root of a tooth was considered to be the cause of this pituitary abscess which had developed metastatically.
