Notes: Complex scattering amplitudes of atoms in solids of many elements for 40 and 100 keV electrons are presented. The changed potential of atoms in solids is approximated by a special correction function. The influence of the different potential functions (Thomas–Fermi or Hartree), interatomic distances, and electron energies on the complex atomic scattering amplitudes is discussed. The atomic scattering amplitudes of single atoms for small scattering angles depend strongly on the potential functions used, because they differ for outer atomic regions, especially for fight elements. This is not the ease, however, for atoms in solids, because by using the corrected potential the original potential differences in the outer atomic regions are suppressed.
