Notes: N-(4-nitrophenyl)-N-methylaminoacetonitrile is shown to be a very efficient nonlinear organic material. Angularly phase-matched second-harmonic generation efficiencies as high as 1.8×10−3, 2.0×10−4, and 1.2×10−4 W−1 at 1.064, 1.21, and 1.30 μm, respectively, have been measured by using cw Nd:YAG and semiconductor lasers as fundamental sources. Temperature-tuning sensitivities of phase-matched second-harmonic generation have been found to be among the largest ever measured. Values obtained at 1.064, 1.21, and 1.30 μm are −1.2, −1.2, and −1.4 mrad/°C, respectively.
