In this paper we derive a theory which describes the effects of field cycles on the magnetization in particulate systems, i.e., the reptation effects. This theory predicts that the difference between reptation and time-dependence measurements arises from time dependence which occurs during the cycling of the magnetic field, i.e., during the field sweep. These predictions are found to be in good agreement with experimental data published in the following article [Lewis et al. (these proceedings)].
