Magneto-optical properties, along with the structural changes of Fe films induced by Tb-, Bi-, and Fe-ion implantations, are presented. The polar Kerr rotation in a static magnetic field up to 13 kOe and the Faraday rotation in a pulse magnetic field up to 43 kOe were examined. Enhancement of the specific Faraday rotation in the ion implanted Fe layer is generally found at low doses. It is found that this enhancement is attributed to the changes of the optical constants n and κ of the Fe films due to the implantation. From the saturation field determined by the Faraday rotation versus magnetic field loop, the internal stress in Fe films is estimated. It is also found that the observed changes of the optical constants in the Fe-ion implanted Fe films are caused by the structural changes induced at low implantation doses.
