Magnetic phase diagrams defining the regions over which the transverse incommensurate AF1 and the longitudinal incommensurate AF2 phases occur for dilute Sn and Sb alloys of chromium have been determined using neutron diffraction techniques. The purely magnetic (100), (111), and (210) peaks have been examined over a wide range of temperature and normalized to the (110) nuclear peak. Wavelengths of 1.22 and 2.52 A(ring) have been employed using the D2 and D1B instruments at ILL, Grenoble. In both systems the boundary between the AF0 and AF1 phases (Tco) and that between the AF1 and AF2 phases (Tsf) initially decreases as the impurity content increases, in agreement with recent resistivity results. Beyond certain concentrations no further decrease is observed, however, and this is probably associated with the formation of a second phase in these systems. The compositions examined cover the reported range of solid solutions although these are somewhat uncertain. The values of the magnetic moment, spin-density wave vector Q, and the fraction of electrons in Eg orbitals have also been determined and compared with previous results in related systems.
