A nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) method for the precise determination of internuclear distances is proposed. This method, called two-field-NOESY or simply 2F-NOESY, is based on the fact that cross-relaxation rates between spins, which can be measured by nuclear Overhauser enhancement spectroscopy (NOESY), are intrinsically frequency dependent. The method has the advantage that the reorientational correlation times for individual dipole–dipole vectors can be simultaneously determined along with the internuclear distances.© 1999 American Institute of Physics.
