Notes:
A spectrofluorimetric method for the assay of serum cystine aminopeptidase, an enzyme normally produced in increasing amounts during pregnancy, has been evaluated. The clinical application of this method in normal and diabetic pregnancies has been compared with that of measuring urinary total oestrogens. There is a statistically significant difference in cystine aminopeptidase values in diabetic patients whereas no such difference could be demonstrated when using total oestrogen assay.
