Notes:
In each of 2 yr potato plants were sprayed with the sprout inhibitor, maleic hydrazide (MH-30) 4 wk prior to harvest of the tubers and the tubers were analyzed for glycoalkaloid content after storage at 4.5°C for varying periods of time. Tubers from plants treated with MH were significantly lower in glycoalkaloid content than the controls. The Kennebec variety was higher than the Katahdin variety in glycoalkaloid content and the glycoalkaloid content increased with increased storage time.
